Warren Fisher and Casey Spooner are back with a new album! 'That's a little unexpected' you may say. 'Well, since when have Fischerspooner been about doing what's expected?' 365mag would reply.
Electroclash is long since buried, but that doesn't mean that the best acts from that movement shouldn't be heard from again. One of the strengths of dance music is that while it constantly re-invents itself, it still refers very much to its past - which we believe makes it stronger as a whole. And it seems that Warren and Casey agree, as on this album they utilise the skills of up-to-date rock producer Jeff Saltzman (The Kills, Black Dice, Sounds) as well as also working with a certain Steve Stein - aka the latter part of proto mash-up merchants Double Dee and Steinski. Never let it be said that Fischerspooner are happy to stay within the bounds of electroclash - like the best musical innovators, they haven't stopped trying to evolve their sound. The Best Revenge sounds like pure 80s brilliance, but tracks like Amuse Bouche show a very different, more original sound from the duo who did the impossible when they made Kylie cool again
